Stay Thirsty my friends.

JUNE 10, 2011
BRUCE A. BRENNAN BLOG FROM THE WORLD AND MY MIND
The news as I see it and the views as I want them.
June 10 is … National Yo-Yo Day

This has nothing to do with tomorrow, I hope. I will take a couple of days off although I am likely going to post something. Once I recover from my oldest son’s wedding to the lovely and talented Joanne, I will be back fresh and fluffy.

So Newt, how’s that run for the Republican presidential nomination going? Your economic policies have already cost most of your supporters their jobs. Due the intelligent thing, like Trump did, get out of the race. Your time is over. Nobody wants to live in the nineties again.

Tomorrow is the running of the last leg in the Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes, at Belmont Park. Here are the post positions for Saturday’s 143rd running of the Belmont Stakes.

Post 1: Master of Hounds, Garrett Gomez, 10-1 – Master of Hounds has drawn the lucky No. 1 post, which has produced a record 23 winners in this race. This three-year-old colt, who took fifth in the Kentucky Derby, will likely need a little luck considering he has no wins to his name.

Post 2: Stay Thirsty, Javier Castellano, 22-1 – 11 Belmont winners have come from the second position. Stay Thirsty is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 12th-place showing in the Kentucky Derby. Trainer Todd Pletcher won the 2007 Belmont Stakes with filly Rags to Riches.

Post 3: Ruler On Ice, Jose Valdivia Jr., 25-1 – The No. 3 post is responsible for 13 Belmont winners, a figure that is tied for second all-time with post No. 5. This three-year-old gelding has finished third or better in each of his last four races.

Post 4: Santiva, Shaun Bridgmohan, 15-1 – Nine Belmont winners have started from the fourth position. If Santiva hopes to be the 10th, he’ll have to bounce back from a sixth-place showing in the Kentucky Derby.

Post 5: Brilliant Speed, Joel Rosario, 20-1 – This marks the first time the first seven finishers in the Kentucky Derby will run in the Belmont. Brilliant Speed finished seventh in the Derby. 13 Belmont winners have come from post No. 5, which is tied with the third post for the second-most all-time.

Post 6: Nehro, Corey Nakatani, 9-2 – We have seen seven Belmont winners break from post No. 6. The Kentucky Derby runner-up is looking to end a string of three consecutive second-place finishes with the second win of his career.

Post 7: Monzon, Jose Lezcano, 35-1 – 12 Belmont winners started their journey at post No. 7. This gelding will be looking for his third win in eight races when he breaks from that post Saturday.

Post 8: Prime Cut, Edgar Prado, 25-1 – Six winners of the third leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown have come from post No. 8. Prime Cut has rattled off six straight finishes of third or better.

Post 9: Animal Kingdom, John Velazquez, 3-1 – This marks the first rubber match between the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winners since 2005. Jockey John Velazquez and Animal Kingdom will leave form the No. 9 post, which has produced just four Belmont winners since 1905. Animal Kingdom is trying to become the first horse since Thunder Gulch (1995) and the 12th overall to pull off the Kentucky Derby-Belmont Stakes sweep.

Post 10: Mucho Macho Man, Ramon Dominguez, 15-1 – Only two winners of the Belmont in history have come from the 10th position. The third-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby could be the third. He has taken third or better in eight of 10 career races.

Post 11: Isn’t He Perfect, Rajiv Maragh, 45-1 – Just two Belmont winners have come from post No. 11 as well. Isn’t He Perfect is looking to bounce back from a ninth-place finish in the Preakness Stakes.

Post 12: Shackleford, Jesus Castanon, 5-1 – Shackleford is trying to become the 22nd horse to pull off the Preakness Stakes-Belmont Stakes sweep. History, however, may not be on his side as no Belmont winner has ever come from post No. 12.

I am going to stay with Stay Thirsty for the Belmont. He has a good post and is due for another big race. None of the horses have ever run the mile and half of the Belmont. It is not a popular distance in this country. It is a long race. The race leader can change four or five times in the stretch. Front runners and speed horses typically fade after the first mile.

Good luck and Stay Thirsty my friends.
From the left coast, the land of fruits and nuts, comes a story that should be comical if it were not so serious and involve child molestation. A man is posing with a fake police badge to prey on young girls, reports CBS Los Angeles.
So far, two girls from Lawrence Middle School in Chatsworth, California have come forward about their experience. In one incident, he tried to arrest a girl and then molested her. In a second incident, he tried to trick another girl into letting him put a "tracking device" in her bra. Both sixth-graders were walking home alone from school when the man approached them. No “tracking devices” are allowed in bras. They will not get thru metal detectors at school.
But ABC 7 reports that police have interviewed even more victims, and that there may be others who have not come forward yet. Police are currently working on a suspect sketch based on interviews with students and encourage the public to always request picture identification in addition to a badge when approached by the LAPD.
The suspect has been described as either Hispanic or Asian with brown eyes and brown hair. He's about 5 feet 5 inches tall, and in once incident he was wearing a Superman shirt, reports KTLA. Police are confident he is not Superman although they have issued a lookout for Clark Kent.
When this pervert is captured, the first thing that should happen is that he accidentally fall down a few flights of stairs while in restraints. He should then be castrated and a “tracking device” should be surgically implanted in his rectum.

Just a couple of thoughts I had.
