The Bears looked good against a bad team.

BRUCE A. BRENNAN BLOG FROM THE WORLD AND MY MIND

The news as I see it and the views as I want them.

November 14 is … Operation Room Nurse Day

The Bears looked good in the destruction of the Detroit Lions Sunday afternoon. It is obvious the Lions were playing out of their league earlier in the season. The Lions and the Buffalo Bills have something in common. Both began the season playing above their heads and are now playing to their abilities.

The Penn State sexual abuse scandal is a disgrace to Penn State, those charged criminally, the Penn State Board of Trustees, Joe Paterno, the State of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Attorney General, the State Police of Pennsylvania, the local police authorities, the local prosecuting authorities and the last few Governors of the State. It does not rise to the level of being a national election issue.

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann had some fighting words for former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, charged this month for sexual abuse toward young boys.

"I think my automatic reaction would be, even though I'm a small woman, I'd want to go find that guy and beat him to a pulp," Bachmann said on NBC's "Meet The Press" Sunday.

The Minnesota congresswoman said she looks at the "horrific" incident through the lens of a mother. "I think that's what any parent would want to do when they think about their child," she explained about her impulse toward violence.

Sandusky, the retired assistant to Penn State's beloved head coach Joe Paterno, was arrested and charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse involving eight boys over a 15-year period.

Bachmann said she has no doubt justice will be done now that the Penn State scandal has garnered so much national media attention.

On Friday, President Barack Obama said that the Penn State scandal should lead Americans to do some "soul-searching.

"Obviously what happened was heartbreaking, especially for the victims, the young people who got affected by these alleged assaults," he told Westwood One Radio in an interview Friday night.

"And I think it's a good time for the entire country to do some soul-searching -- not just Penn State. People care about sports, it's important to us, but our No. 1 priority has to be protecting our kids. And every institution has to examine how they operate, and every individual has to take responsibility for making sure that our kids are protected."

The current Governor said on Sunday, on one of the talking heads shows, that the assistant coach who told Paterno about what he saw did his legal duty but should have done more. Why? He is the only person that actually did do something. The Governor didn’t, Joe Paterno didn’t, the University didn’t, the State didn’t, the charity the accused helped start didn’t, the State’s Attorney General didn’t, the local prosecutors didn’t, teachers of the kids didn’t, preachers of the kids didn’t and the parents didn’t.

It is a little early to start whitewashing this mess by blaming a law abiding non paid assistant coach.

This story needs to go away until the trial starts or others are charged. Nothing is going to change; we will all bitch about it until the next disgusting news event happens and life will go on. I am sure each of the victims will be paid millions of dollars by the University. Report that.

Just a couple of thoughts I had and you should too or at least think about.
