July 1 is … Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day and Build A Scarecrow Day

Dorothy should enjoy a watermelon ice cream cone while finding the scarecrow a brain.
Blame the Civil War. It all started with the big bills the U.S. was running up fighting the Civil War. To help pay for the war, Congress established the Bureau of Internal Revenue on this day in 1862. President Abraham Lincoln signed the bill into law, making it possible for the feds to collect a three percent tax on incomes ranging from $600 to $10,000, and five percent on incomes over $10,000. Several precursors to the law were never officially enacted or enforced, and this law was just a temporary one...

The Bureau became the Internal Revenue Service in 1913. It was then that a 16th amendment was added to the U.S. Constitution permitting the Federal Government to once again collect a tax on income. Through a complicated system of rules, the Internal Revenue Service became the official collection agency and the reason why U.S. citizens all shudder and shake annually on April 15.

We have to pay for all the wars we start and welfare we handout to generations we have mutated by destroying their self respect and work ethic genes. We don’t really have to pay for them but we must tax in order to pay the interest on the loans we take out to start the wars and money we give to lazy welfare suckers.

Little Joe died on July 1, 1991. It has been 20 years?  Michael Landon actor (Bonanza), dies at 54 from cancer.
On this date in 1943 1st withholding tax from paychecks;

1990 Despite Andy Hawkins no-hitting the White Sox, Yankees lose 4-0.

We reap what we sew. I have seen a few minutes of this guys show /reports in the past. I do not like the tactics and the ever present video camera. The show never shows the innocent folks they entrap and I am sure it has happened. They also edit the video for dramatic effect, leaving out what many may consider important pieces to the story.

Oh, the irony ... It's been reported that Chris Hansen, host of 'To Catch a Predator,' the controversial 'Dateline' show that uses hidden cameras to trap would-be perverts in sting operations, has been caught cheating on his wife ... in a sting operation using hidden cameras.

According to ‘The Daily Mail’ Hansen found himself on the receiving end of his own hidden camera tactics after the married NBC anchor was secretly filmed on an illicit date with a blonde television reporter 20 years his junior. He was the subject of a four-month long sting operation conducted by 'The National Enquirer' after he allegedly began an affair with former NBC intern Kristyn Caddell, a 30-year-old Florida journalist. The Connecticut-based Hansen has been spending more time in South Florida recently for work, reportedly investigating the disappearance of James "Jimmy T" Trindade for 'Dateline.'

Hansen has worked for NBC for two decades, but became famous with 'To Catch a Predator.' Launched in 2005, the show is devoted to the subject of identifying and detaining those who contact people they believe to be below the age of consent over the Internet for sexual liaisons.

The show's producers work with online watchdog Perverted-Justice, whose volunteers pose as underage girls offering sex on the Internet. But when the potential sexual predators arrive to meet the girls, they find themselves confronted by Hansen, his film crew and sometimes the police.

What he did does not appear to be criminal but much of what he videos and makes money and fame on is not against the law. It does compromise his credibility as a newsman; his honesty and fair dealings with the other woman, his wife and family are clearly in question. I hope he made enough money to afford a good divorce lawyer. I am sure his wife will hire a good one and ask that he pay her legal fees, a common practice in domestic relations cases.

Perhaps I and many others were too quick to condemn the former head of the IMF. Prosecutors have serious questions about the credibility of a hotel housekeeper who has accused former International Monetary Fund leader Dominique Strauss-Kahn of raping her, and they are taking the extraordinary step of seeking a substantial reduction in his pricey bail, a person familiar with the case said Thursday.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss matters not yet made public in court, told The Associated Press that prosecutors have raised issues about the accuser's credibility in the case against Strauss-Kahn, but would not elaborate on what those issues were. A separate law enforcement official who is familiar with the case, but not authorized to speak about it publicly, told the AP that the issue was not necessarily about the rape accusation itself, but about troubling questions surrounding the alleged victim's background that could damage her credibility on the witness stand. The official refused to elaborate.

The New York Police Department, which investigated the case, declined comment. The woman's lawyer did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.

Is this a case of ‘too quick to convict’ or is money talking?
Screw the little guy. Los Angeles Dodger’s payroll checks bounced for some employees this week. A number of team employees' paychecks bounced this week, days after team owner Frank McCourt filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Los Angeles Times reported that players and full-time front office employees were ot affected..
Josh Rawitch, Dodgers vice president of communications, told the Los Angeles Times that the affected employees were part-time, game-day staff. The Times identified them as security guards and ushers who work at Dodger Stadium. The team issued new checks Wednesday and has agreed to cover bank fees, Rawitch told reporters.
Just a couple of thoughts I had and you should too.
