Congratulations to the DeKalb High School football team and the Sycamore High School football team for victories Friday night. It looks like the game this Friday between DeKalb and Sycamore at NIU’s Huskies’ Stadium will go a long way in determining the new conferences champion. GOOD LUCK to both teams.
I would like to say congratulation to my nephew and his new bride as they enjoy their honeymoon in northern California wine country starting Monday. Have a very good and relaxing time. They were married in May at a winery in Missouri in a beautiful ceremony I and my family attended. Wine appears to be a theme in their married life.
The debate concerning President Obama’s place of birth and his birth certificate took an interesting turn during the last seven days. Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, an Army doctor, is facing a court martial for refusing to serve in Afghanistan. He refused to serve because he believes President Obama was not born in this country. He reasons the President cannot legally be the President of the United States under our Constitution. Since he is serving illegally, he does not have the Constitutional authority to deploy him in the service.
A retired Air Force general, who now works for Fox News as a contributor, has gotten involved. His name is Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney. The Lt. General is a West Point graduate; he is a Vietnam veteran and was commander of the 11th Air Force in Alaska. He retired in 1994.
He has been known for his extreme ideas in the past. Perhaps that is why he was Commander in Alaska. It is our Siberia. This retired Military leader suggested the weapons of mass destruction that did not exist in Iraq when we invaded were “spirited away” by the countries of Russia, France and China before we could find them. No word on where they went.
He suggested, as a way to avoid a future attack using an airliner, every Muslim male between the ages of 18 to 28 should be strip-searched before getting on a plane. He did not offer any details about how to do this efficiently and legally, just opinions. He has also said the reason there has not been another attack in America since 9/11 “Why attack here when you have leftists in America who have aided and abetted the enemy more than Tokyo Rose did in World War II?” He seems to forget Tokyo Rose was granted a pardon, she may have been a traitor but she wasn’t a terrorist.
McInerney has filed an affidavit in the court martial case in support of Lt. Col. Lakin. Lakin should review his trial strategy. You do not want to accept everyone’s help just because they offer it.
McInerney’s affidavit is in support of a Discovery request in the court martial. Discovery is the pre-trial procedure of gathering all the evidence available in a case. The goal is to make sure both sides have all of the same material available to them. The days of big surprises coming out at trial are over. The lawyer for one side or the other may have missed something, but it was made available to him. Some lawyers are better than others at preparation.
Lakin’s attorney wants to subpoena Pres. Obama’s birth certificate from the keeper of records in Hawaii. McInerney is in support of this request and is in agreement with Lakin’s position now and before the court martial. Hawaiian officials have consistently said the birth certificate is in order and proves Pres. Obama was born in the United States. They have never released the official document and Pres. Obama has refused to authorize its release.
I think this whole “birther” thing is much-ado-about nothing. It could all end if the President would release the record. Why wouldn’t he? He has always said he is not and never was a Muslim. My Birth Certificate has my religion listed on it. Maybe his does too and it says he was born a Muslim. That would prove he is a liar, as I believe most politicians are.
Perhaps it states he was not born in America. Perhaps it does not exist. Many third-world nations, even today, have such poor record keeping, birth records are not generated contemporaneously with the event they are commemorating.
Legally, I feel Lakin is entitled to this document through subpoena, perhaps even a Freedom of Information Act request. It should be provided to the accused. The Judge could take into the court martial file under seal, which would deny access to everyone except those designated by the Judge. Of course, these things always get leaked. I read once, “It is easy for three people to keep a secret if two are dead.”
Pres. Obama has directed his Administration to sue Arizona over the law requiring individuals to prove their citizenship. Is Obama doing this because he cannot prove his and wants to stop all inquiries in their tracks. I am sure Obama had a driver’s license at one point. It may have expired since he took office. If he were pulled over in Arizona, would he have to sit in jail until he proved his citizenship or was deported? If the law is knocked off the books, he doesn’t have to worry about it.
No man is above the law, NR. President. Release your birth certificate and end this petty story.
Did you see where Michaele Salahi, the White House Party Crasher, is going to pose nude for a magazine. According to her spokesperson “Full frontal, birthday suit nude.” Why does she have a spokesperson? Isn’t she too old to get naked in public? When did she get good-looking enough anyone would care?
